Buying Your First Knoxville Home – 3 Mistakes To Avoid

Buying your first Knoxville home is exciting and overwhelming.  If you’re in the market to buy a Knoxville home this year, here are 3 mistakes to avoid.

Be Savvy About Your Loan Options

For many Knoxville first time home buyers, the mortgage process can be confusing. Many first time buyers opt to go with the first option that they are offered. As a Knoxville first time buyer, there are a lot of great loan options out there for first time home buyers.

It is important that you see what your options may be and consider how they fit into your home buying needs. There are many different options available, even some loan options that allow you to get 100% financing, it just important to understand what options are available so you can decide what option is best for you.

Don’t Cut Any Corners

One area that it can be easy to cut some corners is with inspections. As a first time home buyer, a home inspection is what gives you a full perspective of the home you’re buying. A good, complete inspection is worth every penny as a buyer.

If there are any issues that are found during a home inspection, you are able to either negotiate the repairs or walk away from the transaction.

 Don’t Overextend Yourself

Just because you can afford X amount, doesn’t mean you should spend X amount. Take a look at your finances and see how much your comfortably feel you can spend.

Just keep in mind there is more to your mortgage payment than just principal and interest, there are taxes, insurance, among other things. You’ll want to have an emergency fund as well just in case.
